Abstract

It forms the basis of design, plastic and visual arts practices that deal with the visual aesthetic issues related to the change cycle of the age in the light of developing technologies. Visual design elements aim to reveal the components in any visual design that can be distinguished, differentiated and defined. Basic design elements exist as a plastic value in fine arts. Design principles are seen in many fields of plastic arts. Artifacts have been produced with unique approaches and elements in different art fields that have emerged in the history of art throughout the ages. It is frequently encountered that design principles are used in ceramics, which is one of these art fields, which is as old as the history of humanity. In order to produce any design, some methods and rules are needed. The application of these rules is also present in ceramic arts with various shaping techniques. These design principles help the work to be arranged or fictionalized superficially and formally. One of the main purposes of a design is to raise awareness and increase interaction. Design; It is to make an internal transfer to a material in the light of thoughts, feelings, imagination and observations. These design principles, which can only be grasped with applications, are based on the power of visual perception.

In this study, it is aimed to explain the design principles, definitions and examples made with ceramic materials, which mean the rules required for surface constructions related to any subject. For this purpose, various written and visual sources were scanned. The data obtained were supported by up-to-date personal applications. Today, it is thought that research on design principles will shed light on the future, so that a wider visual perception potential will develop.
